Northwestern Concert Band to Perform in Herod Hall March 4

February 27, 2025

The ·¬ÇÑÊÓƵ Concert Band will perform its first concert under the direction of Alexander (Xan) Perkins, instructor of instrumental music, on Tuesday, March 4, at 7 p.m. in Fellers Family Auditorium in Herod Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

The band members will perform traditional wind band repertoire in the professional concert setting.

Perkins said the ensemble is comprised of students with many different majors and interests and is the "sit down" or "concert" version of the marching band and pep bands found at Northwestern sporting events.

The concert will be approximately 40 minutes, and the ensemble will perform four musical works featuring classic wind band literature from both known and underrepresented composers, as well as contemporary works written for the concert band.

“The NWOSU Concert Band only performs in this way three times throughout each school year,” Perkins said. “This event is important as it shows the hard work and dedication our students have to the instrumental music program at Northwestern.”
